Visitors, contractors and staff sign themselves in at a kiosk or by scanning a QR code. Every arrival and departure keeps one live occupancy register current, across every entrance and every site.

The day it matters

A warden opens EntryWatch on their phone at the assembly point, sees everyone signed in, and marks them accounted for as they arrive. Whoever is left unmarked is the answer to the only question anyone is asking.

That is why the two belong in one system. A separate evacuation tool has to be told who is in the building; this one already knows.

A paper register is inside the building
The sign-in book lives on the reception desk you have just evacuated. The one moment you need it is the one moment you cannot reach it.
Nobody signs out
A list that is only as current as the last person who remembered to sign out will tell you people are missing who left at lunchtime — and send someone back in to look for them.
Contractors and visitors are invisible
Staff are on a payroll list. The electrician on the roof and the two people in a meeting room are not, and they are exactly who a roll-call misses.
Multiple entrances, one answer needed
People arrive at whichever door is nearest. The count has to be the whole site, not whichever book was closest to the fire.

In an emergency

Where this fits your obligations

In New Zealand, the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 makes a PCBU responsible for the health and safety of everyone at its workplace — visitors and contractors included — and buildings that need an approved evacuation scheme are expected to practise it and keep records. In Australia the equivalent WHS duties land in the same place: you are expected to be able to account for the people you have on site.

Whatever the wording, the practical test is the same. When the building empties, can you say who is still in it?

The roll-call runs on a phone over mobile data, so it does not depend on the building. That is deliberate: the register is least useful if it only exists on a device still inside the building you have just left.

Can we use it for trial evacuations? ▾

Yes, and it is the easiest way to get a defensible record of one. Run the roll-call exactly as you would in a real event and you have a timestamped record of who was on site and how long it took to account for them.

Do we need to buy visitor management as well? ▾

No — it is one product. Sign-in is what makes the evacuation register accurate, so you get both.
